Gesture Board: Tomo

Why is skateboard grip always additive? With Tomo I routed three different topographic depths into the surface of the deck. The end result is map that functions as a grip. I’m excited for the next attempt at this technique. I’d like to do some known topographies and experiment in using plyboo as the base material. Tomo is made of plywood, hand-routed and hand painted with Gouache.

Gesture Board: purpleD

An indoor skateboard, purpleD is soft leather hand stretched around a traditional shortboard. It’s perfect for riding around the inside of your house with bare feet. The edges are hand sewn – I’d like to try a new stitch or improve on this somehow for the next iteration. The top surface has a slight foam Gesture Board: purpleD

I wanted to play with the notion of a skateboard as a blank canvas. Many artists use blank skateboard decks as a base for graphic work – this is a push on that concept. The blank canvas board is an old fashioned pool board with two pieces of canvas stretched around it, and then the Gesture Board: blank canvas

Visceral Credit Card Reader

Swipe your credit card and get rewarded with a satisfying bell and glowing blue light. This is a prototype I built to test a concept I’m working on that challenges people notions of personal information. The card swipe strikes a bell that is reminiscent of manual cash registers. This was unplanned but an interesting plus Visceral Credit Card Reader

Megapixel

Building on a fascination I have with pixels, I created the megapixel font out of redwood 4×4’s. Each character contains ten white pixels. I know this breaks every rule of typography creation. I just wanted to make it. I was interested in using the same number of pixels per font. The redwood blocks are all of varying height to allow for pixelation in the vertical dimension as well.

Steamé

The Steamé vegetable steamer allows a user to effectively steam vegetables at an appropriate distance from water, remove the vegetables from the hot pot with a firm grip and without burning their hand, and set them to the side to drain or serve. Steamé has multiple features that are improvements on existing steamers. Each of Steamé
