I spent January at my alma mater, Williams College, teaching a course on design during the school’s one-month Winter Study term. Sixteen fantastic students dove into design process for the first time and tackled challenges related to sustainability at Williams. They each presented their work publicly at the end of the month. I am super excited to announce the launch of Scree Magazine. Scree is a celebration of the creative scramble in all disciplines. Practice seeing patterns everywhere

This assignment is about seeing patterns out of everyday life. Some patterns are obvious, others are found by looking closely at your surroundings and visually extracting, multiplying, copying.

Method Cards to Map the Masses

I made this set of method cards based on my emergent design work. This is a collected toolset that I developed in order to glean rich insights from mass numbers of people. The methods are divided into populaters (to find the boundaries of the problem), catalysts (to spark generative responses), and filters (to select specific areas to move forward).

The Steamé vegetable steamer allows a user to effectively steam vegetables at an appropriate distance from water, remove the vegetables from the hot pot with a firm grip and without burning their hand, and set them to the side to drain or serve.
